The night before ~ Tapotupotu Bay

Whangārei to the top of the North Island in a minivan captained by Aunty Lynette and Uncle Robert. Lunch at the Hundertwasser Toilets in Kawakawa - yes the toilets are awesome, we didn’t eat in them exactly. Hours later, we and our piles of gear are dropped at this sweet little beach, Tapotupotu Bay, just a few kms from the trail start at Cape Reinga / Te Rerenga Wairua.
My splendid cousin Tam and her family arrived for the night. The perfect cure for our nerves, great friends, a beer and sunset adventures on the beach. So good.
Pre-trail nerves quietened by the company of splendid folk.
